Video Footage Of Ogbele Modular Refinery Set To Be Commissioned By FG

All set for Commissioning is the Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Modular Refinery in Ogbele, Rivers State.

This is part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s initiative to boost local refining of crude oil by establishing modular refineries in three states in Niger Delta.

The Ogbele brownfield modular refinery has undergone recent upgrades on its production capacity, from 1,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 10,000 bpd. The upgrade is being carried out in two phases of 5,000 bpd respectively. The first phase upgrade to 5,000 bpd, is set for commissioning.

This project brings to three (3), the total number of modular refineries ready for commissioning in the Niger Delta region. The other two are: Opac modular refinery in Kwale, Delta State and Waltersmith modular refinery in Imo state.

Nigeria’s Federal Government in response to the perennial challenge of the proliferation of artisanal refining, and as a way of boosting the local refining of crude oil, made the decision in 2017, to promote the establishment of modular refinery. This was done by putting in place policies, as well as the creation of an intervention fund through the New Vision program for the Niger Delta. This decision has attracted several investors into the space, resulting in the establishment of modular refineries in different states across the Niger Delta region.

Below is a Footage of the about to be commissioned Niger Delta Petroleum Resources modular refinery situated in Ogbele, Rivers State.
