Victoria Nyeche Salutes Rivers’ Workers
The member, representing the people of Port Harcourt Constituency 1 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Victoria Wobo Nyeche salutes workers in Rivers State as they celebrate the International Workers’ Day.
In a message made available to newsmen, Hon. Nyeche stated, “There is dignity in labour, so be the best in whatever you do no matter how menial. The Rivers’ workers in particular and the Nigerian workers in general have shown resilience and commitment. They are the fulcrum and catalysts to development and therefore deserve all the commendations we can give. They work hard every working day to ensure that productivity is attained. Sometimes, they would have to work under challenging environments. They deserve decent wages in line with the Biblical injunction that ‘a labourer is worthy of his wages’.”
She stated further that all workers deserve fair pay for putting in their best in the present circumstances.
“It is my prayer that the proposed increment in the minimum wage by the Federal Government comes to fruition as quickly as possible. I also pray that State Governments will follow the footsteps of the Federal Government in paying the Nigerian workers living wages as well as making their work environments conducive and even automated to boost the morale of the workers.
Once again, I salute you as you celebrate this day believing that better days are ahead,” she said.
