Our attention has been drawn to a certain report purporting itself to be a statement made allegedly by Distinguished Sen. Andy Uba, Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship election, stating that he intends to establish a central center for Muslim worship in the state, three months after being elected as governor.
There is no truth whatsoever to this statement.
In the said report written by a certain Jude Ifediba, purporting to hail from Ekwulobia, Aguata LG, it claimed that Sen Uba, “authoritatively indicated that he would initiate the establishment of a central worship center for the Muslims in the state three months after he was sworn in as governor.”
Any decerning mind should have seen the lie inherent in the said report. This is because no seasoned politician from Anambra would have made the building of a worship center, whether Christian or Muslim a campaign point.
Sen Andy Uba fully understands the dynamics of culture in Anambra and Nigeria and would never deliberately court controversy in such a brazenly careless manner.
Secondly, as a deep patriotic Anglican Christian, Distinguish Senator Andy Uba recognises the right and place of religion in both his home state and the country.
But anyway we are not surprised of where the offensive fake news like this came from. It’s from the same quarters of despirate politicians on their way out of political reckoning in Anambra State.
Knowing that Distinguished Sen Andy Uba is unstoppable, they are hell bent on promoting fake news, disinformation and propaganda against our candidate.
They will not succeed.
