If events at the Ikwerre local government council yesterday are anything to go by, then the local government workers who have currently worked three months without pay, have just been placed on a ‘longer thing’.

According to an eyewitness who pleaded to be anonymous, a great number of angry workers were gathered at the council yesterday Friday, in a futile bid to be audited as directed by the CTC chairman…as a compulsory prelude to the payment of the much talked about ‘two months salary’.

According to the workers, the chairman had earlier before that day directed them to them a certain Zennith Bank, located by GRA junction, close to Kilimanjaro along  Aba road Portharcourt, for the said auditing exercise. The workers lamented their  frustrations as they were redirected back to the chairman at the council for the exercise…and they had to wait all day for the chairman, who refused to come to  the office to attend to the helpless workers or even issue necessary directive as to what to be done over the urgly situation even after his protocol aides called him to inform him of the situation. As it stands, the said workers do not know their fate as the exercise terminated yesterday.

This situation have stunned pundits… Who are now beginning to doubt the sincerity of the Samuel Wanosike led CTC over its purported political will to pay up the preceding two months salary’s owed the council workers. Many are beginning to see this as a clearly calculated tacit move to hoodwink the workers and further seize and divert their salary to prosecute the Rivers PDP purported plan to bribe their way through to victory in their appeal cases before the court. It would be recalled that the immediate past CTC chairman of KELGA, Hon. Eloka Amadi, also conducted the same auditing exercise and ended up seizing and diverting workers two months salary in cahoot with his Oga at the top…The Pharoah in Egypt. So it would have only been wise for the new CTC chairman to just pay up the salary backlog as promised without subjecting the suffering workers to another round of a fruitless and unnecessary auditing exercise.
