Osun : Why we held parallel ward congress – Factional chairman, Olasoji Adagunodo

The lingering leadership tussle in the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) worsened over the weekend as the party conducted a parallel congress.

During the ward congress, the faction which supports the embattled factional chairman of the party in the State, Olasoji Adagunodo held a parallel congress.

Speaking with journalists during the exercise, Adagunodo accused the ward congress committee of compromise, adding that their mission was to carry out a script as directed by the national secretariat of the party.

Adagunodo disclosed that on the arrival of the ward congress committee to the state, a meeting of both factions was conveyed where they were told that they could not be trusted.

He revealed that this was so because two members of the Oker Jev committee were close to the party’s embattled national chairman, Unce Secondus, one being his Secretary, while the other was his brother.

The embattled chairman explained that the committee had already been seen as partial because the party’s national chairman was behind the crisis which engulfed the party in Osun.

Based on that, Adagunodo stated that his faction of the party held their own separate congress, while those in the Sunday Bisi camp did theirs.

In a swift reaction, the Osun chairman, Sunday Bisi told OMADAILY that the exercise went well, adding that he was not aware of any parallel congress being held anywhere in the State.

While disclosing that the committee was fair to everybody, he challenged Adagunodo to come out with evidence of where his own parallel congress was held.

The crisis in the Osun which has been going on for more than three years has seen Olasoji Adagunodo and Sunday Bisi claiming the party’s chairmanship position.

The National Working Committee of the party recognises Sunday Bisi as the party chairman in the state and had directed the ward congress committee to relate with him.
