Tell us a little about your background?

I am Ogonda Stephen, A Rivers man and a native of Rumuodara
community in Obio/Akpor local government area, port Harcourt . from a family of
six, 5 boys and a girl in which I’m the last.
How did you come about your stage name Mr Shyne?
It all started back in secondary school, I use to be the
neatest boy in class then i was named Shine-Shine by my school father “Dio-Dio”,
friends carried the name as i became popular with it. Music discovered me as i decided
to go for a nice stage name and then i changed shine-shine to  Mr Shyne
What inspired your passion for music and who has been there supporting you from the beginning?
It has been there, when i was growing up the only thing i could remember was i saw myself going very
close to the radio as a child. I later started recording on cassette, as i grew
older  i started listening to 2PAC, B.I.G,
NAS, JAY Z, D.M.X, JARULE and the rest. each time i listen to
their music it inspires me, They make me believe i have it in me. as For who
has been there for me; i must say it has been God all the way.
If not music what else would you be doing?
4- If i didn’t go into music i would have joined the
Nigerian Army, that’s because the armed forces is another thing I love so much
apart from music.
how many artists have you worked with since you came into the music industry?
 (5) I have worked
with Duncan Mighty, Bustique Da French Man, J-2wice, Austin Blaze, Six, Dandy
Boy and many others
How do you feel about the music industry today?
 (6) I feel happy because
it pays well now but on the other hand most artist don’t say anything at all,
they have an empty music content and that’s not good at all.

What is the greatest thing about working in the music industry? And what would you change if you had the opportunity?

 (7) One of the
greatest thing is working with your dream artist it gives you more knowledge,
if i have the opportunity  one thing i’ll
change is the mentality of the upcoming they always believe they can’t make it
without the big names in the industry.
From your experience so far, what have you found to be most challenging? And how are you dealing with it?
(8) Finance has been a major challenge so far but as an
artist you don’t have to depend on anybody to become what you really want to be,
this has led some young musicians astray. Am dealing with the situation by all
genuine means one can engage In, I have been hustling; running as much shows as i can.
If you were to make a list of your all time favorite songs, which songs and artist will make that list?
(9) I will put 2Face on the list because he has been like everyone’s
legend here in Nigeria then  Mod9, Phyno
and Roggead Man.

Share with us your proudest moment in your career so far?
 (10) My proudest
moment was when I was honored with Esara-Best upcoming after  launching my Album titled GENESIS. it was a privilege
to have received such an award, I felt so happy because the journey has not
