The people of Edegelem Community in Etche local government area of Rivers state have called out for help on the spate of criminal activity in Igbo-Etche.
Habitants of the predominantly farming community wants the state government to apply quick measures that will clampdown on criminal elements in the area and improve their security.
The chairman of the community development committee Promise Nwuigwe wants the government to give special attention to some villages in Igbo-Etche, speaking in an interview with our correspondent Promise Nwuigwe recounts how many memebers of Edegelem Community have fallen victims to criminals operating in the area.
The community leader also dismissed claims to some quarters that those who were mainly affected by the attacks are strangers and tenants. He noted that the ongoing development in Igbo-Etche has retracted investments as well as negative consequences of socialvices.
In the same vein Prince Ogbonna Nwankwo who is the spokesman of the community express regret about the upsurge of crimes in Igbo-Etche but said the situation will be brought to under control.
