BREAKING NEWS: Chima Nnokam Drags INEC To Court Over Failure To Meet Up By Election Deadline
Mr Chima Nnnokam has dragged INEC before the Federal High Court Sitting in Port Harcourt in suit No: FHC/PH/CS/85/2018, praying the court for an order that he be immediately issued with the certificate of return to represent Phalga Constituency 3 in the Rivers State House of Assembly,
INEC having failed more than 30 days as prescribed by Section 116 of the Constitution to conduct the by election to fill the vacancy created by exit of Hon. Victor Ihunwo of Phalga const. 3 Rivers State.
Justice Mohamed Turaki hearing the matter in Port Harcourt has granted an exparte application and ordered that the matter be heard by the vacation court because of its urgent nature.
The judge ordered that the defendant be put on notice and has adjourned the matter to the Aug 10, 2018 for hearing of the motion for interlocutory injunction restraining INEC from conducting the election slated for Aug 18, pending the substantive suit.
Chima Nnokam contested the election to represent Phalga constituency 3 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress on April 11, 2015 and polled the 2nd highest number of votes.
